Part 10 of 13
Highlights: A set of 19 problems appropriate for homework emphasizing modeling cutting across many topics.
Abstract: This collection of problems focuses attention on the role, value of, and limitations of simple models in physics and biology. Electricity is an excellent place to work on issues of modeling in biological contexts. The set includes models of molecular interactions, properties of nerves, and the Nernst equation for modeling the electric properties of membranes. Some problems address standard idealizations such as resistanceless wires and perfect ammeters and voltmeters.
