Highlights: Introductory activities involving kinematics and Newton's laws in the context of human biomechanics
Abstract: This is the first module of five that make up the basic Biomechanics series, which are modules of student activities that can be used to support learning of mechanics topics in the context of biomechanics in an algebra-based introductory course. This first module of activities introduces kinematics and Newton's laws in the context of human movement and humans moving objects. There is a large conceptual focus, with students predicting and interpreting their own data. Modeling the human body as a point object and looking at sequences of simple motion segments are key differences from the standard mechanics approach.
