Abstract:
Three short readings from the Top Hat textbook, "Living Physics". These readings explain the important role of mechanism in understanding how physics plays a critical role in biology and to suggest how to develop a strategy for figuring out that role in particular situations. The application of this strategy in the context of actual problems like those contained here is crucial since "just telling them" how to do something rarely develops a skill.
