Highlights: This curriculum uses videos, text, and assessment questions too explore how radiation is used in computed tomography imaging (CT).
Abstract: Since the first x-rays in 1896, planar x-ray images have been used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Computed Tomography (CT) was born out of x-ray imaging and provides superior spatial resolution. This curriculum provides context for the following concepts: electromagnetic spectrum, x-rays, photons, bremsstrahlung, atomic energy levels, shielding, back projection, image artifacts, planar vs 3D imaging, and cathode ray tubes. The curriculum includes a manuscript with key concepts, video series from a medical professional, video comprehension questions, and pre-lecture checkpoints and homework problems.
Resource Types: Video, Pre-class assignment, Homework, Student reading, Instructor supplement, Restricted access
