Highlights: Two classroom activities useful for introducing estimation

Abstract: This unit includes a set of slides that can be used to introduce estimation in a class context. It includes some useful groupwork activities introducing estimation: (1) An activity in which students measure their thumb, handspan, and forearm to provide measurements useful for estimating; (2) a groupwork activity where students estimate the surface area of a towel in various models.
