Functional dependence - Classroom activities

Highlights: An extended groupwork activity that helps students analyze and see functional dependence in equations important to biology
Abstract: This groupwork activity has students work through two problems in functional dependence relevant to biologists: (1) the time dependence of diffusion spreading and (2) the Hagen-Poissuille equation describing viscous fluid flow. The lesson is highly scaffolded without being algorithmic. Appropriate either for a recitation or a large lecture class with groupwork structures available.
