Highlights: Student Centered, active-learning activities developing conceptual and graphical understanding of Energy Transfer and Conservation.
Abstract: This resource contains three Learning Activities on Conservation of Energy: Learning Activity I - Energy Forms and Transfers uses a PHET simulation to identify energy transfers in various systems. Learning Activity II - Conservation of Energy in Energy Diagrams teaches students to choose an isolated system, define the energy transfers and visually illustrate energy conservation in the students' chosen system. Learning Activity III - Mechanical Efficiency and Energy-time Graphs extends students' understanding of dynamic Energy-Time scenarios to coincide with Energy Diagrams.
Resource Types: In-class activity, Pre-class assignment, Homework, Instructor supplement, Restricted access
