Abstract: This project introduces students to an important search strategy used by gene transcription factors, starting from a research article. It was developed for a general biophysical modeling course for 2nd-4th year undergrads in any of several science majors. Students need some background in random walks and some facility in computer coding (e.g. in Python). This project highlights how a simple simulation can establish contact between a physical model and a current experiment. To that end, students are asked to read a recent article and draw connections to their results.
