Coupling Light Into a Fiber- Fiber Optics in Medicine - Section 3 of 6
Vetted
Highlights: Students will investigate how light rays are coupled to an optical fiber for maximum efficiency.
Abstract: Section 3 of the Fiber Optics in Medicine Module introduces the physical concept of coupling light into an optical fiber through a medical scenario that uses fiber optics light to blast a bile duct stone.

Students will use lenses to collimate and focus diverging LED light into a 1/4" acrylic rod that models an optical fiber.
Resource Types: In-class activity, Lecture materials, Lab, Demonstration, Video, Homework, Student reading, Instructor supplement, Restricted access
