Highlights: Student-Centered Module on Mechanics of the Cardiovascular System in Health and Disease
Abstract: A hands-on, active learning 5-section module covering the mechanics of the heart as a pump and the pressure differences guiding blood flow in the cardiovascular system in health and disease. Activities address MCAT Pre-Health Competency E3 (Demonstrate knowledge of basic physical principles and their applications to the understanding of living systems) and Foundational Concept 4B (Importance of fluids for the circulation of blood, gas movement, and gas exchange) and are directed toward an application of physics to medicine. Target audience is students pursuing graduate school/careers in medicine or health care.
Resource Types: In-class activity, Lecture materials, Lab, Demonstration, Pre-class assignment, Homework, Student reading, Instructor supplement, Restricted access
