Highlights: References for six- section, active learning, inquiry-based Fiber Optics in Medicine Module.
Abstract: Active learning curricular module that emphasizes fiber optics as a light collection and delivery system in endoscopic and laser surgery procedures. The material is divided into six sections, addressing the following areas: basic principles of fiber optics (acceptance angle, numerical aperture, wave guiding), illumination, coupling, loss/attenuation, and viewing. All materials are directed toward an application of physics to medicine. The target audience for this module is undergraduate students who are interested in medicine, health care, medical physics, or may wish to broaden their understanding of applications of physics.
