Part 3 of 4
Highlights: What makes an exponential function different from a linear function?
Abstract: This lecture looks at what makes exponential change different from linear change. This is part of a larger resource that focuses on the exponential function to help students connect this functions to meaning, and not see the function merely as a way to get a number. By looking at the same function in many different ways and in different representations, they begin to see the story that the function is telling. The last slides give overviews of exponential models in biology: reaction rates, biological half lives, population growth, radioactive decay, and RC circuits that are used to model nerve signal propagation.
