Modeling the Large Compliant Vessels - Section 3 of 5
Vetted
Highlights: Investigate the formation of an aortic aneurysm in the large compliant blood vessels.
Abstract: Section 3 of the Physics of the Cardiovascular System investigates the pressure drop across the cardiovascular (CVS) system and the formation of an aneurysm. Students will: 1) analyze the pressure drops that occur with position along the circulation cycle in the large compliant and small resistance blood vessels; 2) use a physical model to investigate the formation of an aortic aneurysm; 3) apply LaPlace's Law for sphere's and cylinders to an understanding of blood flow in large compliant vessels in health and disease.
Resource Types: In-class activity, Lab, Pre-class assignment, Homework, Student reading
